RESTAURACE POD KOKŠÍNEM
Welcome to the reopened Restaurant Pod Kokšínem
Hořehledy village is located on the western side of peak Kokšín (684m above sea level), 3km east from Spálené Poříčí, above the Bradava valley. Origin of the name is the nickname of the settlers, who “hoře hledí”(look from above), meaning people looking down from Kokšín to the lowlands around Poříčí. The village was presumably founded by lords from Švamberk in the second half of the 14th century. First reports of the village go back to 1379. In 1460, Jindřich Trehub from Štěpánovice was mentioned to stay in Hořehledy. In 1524, the village was mentioned in connection with Těnovice. Later, Hořehledy became part of Těnovice. By that time iron works were created near Hořehledy, in 1580 mentioned as property of gentlemen from Roupov. At the beginning of the 17th century, 21 estates stood in the village. According to the fiscal rule 10 of those 21 estates were farm-houses, 9 were crofter and 2 were horticultural. Another crofter estate was abandoned. In 1721, Hořehledy were permanently annexed to Spálené Poříčí. By then, there were 25 farmers, saw-mill, tavern and several craftsmen including a jewish tanner. The village later expanded to 42 houses. In 1829, there were 55 houses and 370 inhabitants. There was a tavern, mill, saw-mill, forge shop, two brickworks and gamekeeper’s lodge. In 1890, there was 486 inhabitants and 71 houses, brick works “Palaska” and a mill.
